Hi, I am looking for any source related to Economics in Real Time
Strategy , anything from Academia or game-development side.
I will begin a research in this area so I would like to know if there
is any work currently done and also would like to read some backgrounds
in the economic side of the games.
I remember reading something about RTS researching by some Canadian
university, but I am not sure if it was related to economics.
Cheers,
Omar. |

And I'm not sure it's related to RTS:) But here's some about MMORPGs:
Everquest ecnonomy

Virtual island sells for $26,500 in cyber assets

Thank you, I've read those articles but I think that what I am looking
for is the inside economics of the games. Specifically I think it would
be interesting in creating agents which focus in the goods
exchange/develop of the game rather than fighting etc.
I am looking for the RTS games because MMORPGs are way too complicated
for the research I am trying to do. And also it is difficult to
experiment in those kind of games because one does not have enough
control over them.
I have found the article I mentioned in last post, it is about ORTS
(open real time strategy) from University of Alberta (
http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~mburo/orts/orts.html )
but I think there is no article about economics or something similar.
Cheers,
Omar.

In fact I used to work for a company that did that kind of agents. Well,
all proprietary, you're on your own.

But look, that's what market economy is all about, right? If you want
control you'll be researching ex-russian economy;)
