Your model seems to be "pick a subset size M of
collaborations to test", "for each member of A,
select a subset M of members of B, and test for
collaboration, pairwise", then, IN THE SAME
GENERATION, "for each member of B, select a subset
M of members of A, and test for collaboration,
pairwise".
I doubt that's what the authors intended.
Instead, I suspect their model was: "pick a subset
size M for collaborations", "for each member of A,
pick M members of B at random, first eliminating
from consideration members of B that have already
undergone M collaboration tests in the current
generation". For equal population sizes, that also
does M collaboration tests for each member of B with
M members of A, but not in some separate pass.
Now, since there is no "pick from B then pick from
A" component of testing a generation, your problem
does not arise.

And by the way, subpopulation A doesn't _have_ some
fitness independent of the collaboration testing,
which is what you seemed to say later; that's
instead the one and only source of fitness measures
for members of population A, and from the same
testing, the one and only source of fitness measures
for members of population B.
This mechanism does, since it evaluates population B
in no particular order, require that you accumulate
the M collaboration fitnesses for every population
but the one (A) that you are walking front to back,
and require you to summarize from them at the end of
all the collaboration testing, some final assignment
of fitness. It is a lot of bookkeeping, but not
otherwise especially complicated.
This all generalizes easily to larger numbers of
components aggregated for cooperative testing.
If the choice is instead to sample from B "with
replacement", then there is no guarantee in any
generation that some members of B get tested _at
all_, which is why sampling for each member of A
from a list of Bs culled to remove already
sufficiently tested members of B seems like a better
idea.
I hope this helps at all; English isn't an easy
language in which to express algorithms clearly.

Your post made me realize that the difference between the two
approaches I was talking about is just a matter of credit assignment.
They assigned credit only to the individual in evaluation; and did not
give any to the representatives from other collaborations. Their
argument was to eliminate the trouble of knowing how to assign credit
to the representatives since they only offered a GENERAL architecture.
They did not anymore discuss the case where all collaborating species
are given credit. Anyway, this matter is already resolved. Thank you

Let's comment a bit on the article. First, the
subject matter is covered, extensively, in Wolfram's
textbook _A New Kind of Science_. and widely
discussed on the Web as well.
Second, I doubt anyone would write a genetic
algorithm today the way that one eleven years ago
was written. For one thing, 200% mutation on 80% of
the population is simplify horrifying to this
genetic algorithm practitioner. Useful rates of
mutation are almost always less than 0.5%, and rates
from 0.1% to, with large populations, none at all
are often most workable.
Next, one point crossover is quite weak. For what
they are investigating, probably two point
crossover of the genome considered as a ring, rather
than as an array with a beginning and an end, or
else uniform crossover, would have worked better.
Third, its unclear from the writeup (but I scanned
it pretty fast) what the CA ruleset representation
was that was being crossed over or mutated.
I guess the wrapup is: if you want to study genetic
algorithms off the Web, read more modern discussions
of GAs than ones written over a decade ago, and
also, as I've done here, when you are discussing a
GA searching for a CA ruleset on Usenet, crosspost
between comp.ai.genetic and
comp.theory.cell-automata to get a broader response.

evolving of cellular automata.
I just wanted to recapitulate this task and then try something more
difficult.

rest lead to not-opened publications,
so there isn't so many resources.

As I wrote above, I want to reproduce old experiment and then try |
something different.
Thank you for notes about mutation, I read something about mutation
and 0,01-0,1% is suitable.

behind science progress crippling "pay per view" barriers. I've
found, though, that if you search down the university

softcopy anyway.

YLE 15.05-08, ilmoitteli varsin äänekkäästi, että TVO/Posivan:n alas ajama
Merentutkimuslaitos on saanut kovasti kannatusta säilyttämisekseen.
Diktatuurinen laitoksen silpoaminen silmittömässä ydinraivossaan on silkkaa
Mao:ta! Ei lainkaan kuulema ymmärretä, miksi ydinhallintomme panikoi
laitoksen ydinlauhdeklumpuamisuutisten selkeän faktan näytön seurauksena
noin silmittömässsä raivossa? Jokainen oivaltaa toki, että pakoileva
ydinrikollisuustoiminta ei haluaisi tulla ilmi. Tapa, ja röyhkeys jolla koko
ydinalan tutkimus keskitetään ennenkokemattomasti "yhden oikean
mielipidediktatuurin taa" koetaan rikoksena demokratiaa vastaan laajasti ja
syvästi!
On päivän selvää, etä sama ydinlöydösten syy oli myös mm. Oulun
mehiläistutkinnan alasajolla helmikuusta. TVO/Posiva/Fortum on nyt
kertakaikkiaan vaan päättänmyt, että ydinalaa suojellaan, vaikka kansa
kuolee TAATUSTI massoittain jatkossa. Oikeastaan kyse on enää siitä paljonko
kaatuu, matonee ja tuhoutuu. Ilmeistä on myös, että tämä ydinhallintotapa on
sama mm. USA:ssa/EU:ssa. Eli vaikka ydinsavijalat on kaikki jo pettäneet
annetaan tuhon ydinaavikoitumisineen jatkua kasvavasti. Tämän tyyppisen
toiminnan motiivit ovat mykistäviä ja kertaavia sokeuden malleja historiasta
löytynee ehkä DDR:n loppuvuosilta. Näin homma siis tulee jatkumaan. Hallinto
jatkaa sumutusta, kunnes kansa , tai itse LUONTO ottaa ohjakset niin
käsiinsä, että koko ydinvaltio-olemus kylmästi kuolee pois!"(
Näin sekä Atsteekikultturi, että mm. myös Einstein ennakoivat, että pohjaan
asti ihmiskunta uppoo ydinharhoineen. Edelleen EN siis povaa minkään
laatuista "mailmanlopua", mutta täytyy sanoa, että suoneniskentä, jonka
näemme jatkossa on vailla vertaa. .. .Siitä merkittävä, että ydinalan
katoamiseen tässä laajasti tähdätään myös luonnon osalta, mikä on ollut jo
ydinaavikoituvassa maailmassamme pitkään kakova selviö. Mutta minua on aina
hämmästyttänyt virannomaistemme ahkeroiva määrätietoinen kiima pimittää
kaikki faktat?! Eli oikeinko hauskaa poliisivirannomaisistamme on peittää
vaan linja-autossamme parhaillaan kauhusta kiljuvan kansan silmät
rotkoonajon lähestyessä hetki hetkeltä? Ilmeisesti "big diilinä" on lähteä
ajatuksesta, että kun ajetaan kansa nälkäkuolemansa partaalle, he eivät ehdi
panna ydinsyyllisiään vastuuseen lähilyhtypylväisiin?.. .Yhtä kaikki
historia on pullollaan tällaista toimintakulttuuria tilanteissa, joissa
hallinnon hallitsemattomuus syytää valtioita tuhoonsa. Nyt vaan menee koko
länsimainen kulttuuri sen sileän tien. No Sikäli kun Einstein ennakoi
maapallomme on ydintuhottuna seuraavat vuosimiljoonat PYSYVÄSTI! ja ketkä
selviää lauttamatkasta voi saada vähemmän mairittelevaa selviytymistä vaikka
tästä mukana seuraavasta Posivan "Ympäristövaikutusten
arviointiselityksestä", joka lupaa nimenomkaan nisäkkäille äkkilähtöä
säteilevästä maailmasta.(( (( |

ja koska gallubin mukaan inhoat syvästi ydinvoimarikosta ja olet kasvavassa

laajuiset uudisenergian kasvuvaateet vuoteen 2020 +25% lisäpakottein
ydinvoimaloiden alasajoksi. Vuoteen 2050 mennessä luku taas jo tuplataan
maailman KAIKEN ydinasevarusteluenergian tappamiseksi maailman kartalta. Nyt
sinulla rakas kansalainen on oma osasi tässä taistelussasi ydinkiimaa
vastaan! Toimi tässä ja nyt. Koska syntymättömät kärsijät eivät siihen
kykene. Ydinvoima tappaa jo nyt maailmalla 7,3miljoonaa vuosittain. Aiotko
havahtua vasta kun nollia tulee lisää ja mitään ei ole enää tehtävissä?

**Suunnattoman sukseen ja megasuosion saavuttanut YVA-07 raporttisaetti oli
jo niin verraton setti, että kaipaa VÄLITÖNTÄ jatkoaan. Maamme brutaali
tapaa sensuroida ydinkritiikiä on synnyttänyt pahaa verta aina muistamiimme
"Lipposhaukkujaisiin" EU/Saksaa myöten. Siksi myös TEM/Posiva ja muut
huolestuneet ydinterroriepäillyvarjostuneet haluavat turvata iloksemme
Sisäministerikontroloinnin saavuttamattoman ja lehtisensuroinneista
piittaamattoman VIRALISEN YDINKRITIIKIN KANAVAN suojelukseensa! Ja koska
YVA-07 oli kiistaton kritiikinkannuksen suksee päättää siis Posiva/TEM ja
itse valtiohallinto edustajiensa (ent. KTM)Jorma Aurelan, Posivan Äikään,
Seppälän, Friiberien yms. ja vastaavien massiivisin verotukiaistuein
toimeenpaneman kamppanjakoostein aukaista JÄLLEEN ovet ydinkritiikivyörystä
saranoiltaan paiskovan vapaan ydinkritiikifoorumin! Haluatko, että SINUN
kaukoviisaan ja "Ytimekkään" ydinvastaviisautesi kylkeen tulee Suomen
karjuvan valtioleijonan vahvistama virallinen leimaus ja notuuli vapaaseen
luentaan ilman Sisäministeriestoja?
**Haluatko, että tulevassa ydinrikosoikeudenkäynnissä Haagissa ydinala
vastaa juuri SINUN esittämiin ydinrikossyytteisiin ihmisyyttä vastaan?
Varmista ihmeessä eturivin syyttäjän paikka lastemme riemuksi. Ylpeänä he
voivat kertoa olleensa syyttämässä TVO/Posivoita jo ennen syntymäänsä
kauttasi. Vielä vuosituhansien päästä varmistat materiaalisi säilymisen
historiallisena raportina ajastaikaan ja olet ikiajan kiitelty
ydinvastavirtuoosi ilman ajan hampaan purentaa. Kaiken tämän, ja paljon
enemmän juuri sinulle haluaa ydinhallintomme/TEM taata kätösinsä vaivojaan
säästämättä. Kaikki intomiellä mukaan. Ydinala pyytää raippoja, ennenkaikkea
julkista ruoskintaa ja konstailemattoman aitoja syitä ydinvastaisen Suomen
hurjaan järkiytymiseen ydinkritikitsunamein. Tällä kertaa teemamme
olkoon:"SATA VALITUSTA RIKKI, ettei TEM:n tarvitse enää huokailla H.S:n
tiedotteensa mitättömänpienin alle sadan valituksin!"

T.S.10.05.2008."Lisäydinvoimaloiden rakentamisella ei ole tulevissa Euroopan
ilmastotalkoissamme MITÄÄN merkitystä!"... .. Anteeksi nyt varmaan on
sattunut maamme kivimmanluokan ydinlobbareillemme kirjoitusvirhe..Vaan eikö
mitä, "ei mitään merkitystä!" Turun-Sanoman pääkirjoituksesta vihon
viimeiseksi luulisi löytyvän tuollaista sanomaa. Vasta parisen kuukautta
sitten kun TVO/Posiva YVA-kokouksissa kun olimme saaneet suut silmät täyteen
vakuutuksia, että maahamme on saatava hyvissä ajoin ennen vuoden vaihdetta
käyntiin vähintään kolme, ellei peräti enemmän ydinvoimalahankkeita,
nimenomaan ilmaston talkoitamme varten! Huikeaa muutosta ilmassa, vallan
vallatonta muuten.
Vain muutama päivä sitten maatamme suorastaan järisyttänyt YLE:n gallub kun
esitteli maassamme olevan vähintään 2/3 ydinvastarinnan. Jo sen julkaisu
enteili muutosten jykevyyttä aiemmista 80% ydinmyönnöistä olevan vailla
vertaa. Huikein viesti oli siinä, että tuskin 4% suomalaisista oli edellä
kerrotun TVO/Posivan triplavoimalan takana! On sanomatta selvää, että tätä
taustatuin masinoitua ydinalasajomenttaliteettia on osattu odotella jo vapun
Heiniluoman NATO-vastakommentista asti. Koska NATO-jäsenyyden
viivästymisestä seuraa Pertti Simolan TVO:n YVA 4 kokouslausunnon
alasajoennakointeja. Suomen ydinaikeiten tielle oli jo kasaantunut rajua
vastustusta. Myös EU:n vaatimat 38<50% vuoden 2050 uudisenergtiatavoitteet
osaltaan olivat nakertamassa ydinimpperialismin perussavijalkaa.
KTM Pekkarisen jatkoa gallubista ei tarvinnut kauoja odotella. Ei tullut 3
uutta ydinvoimalahanketta tälle vuodelle, ei edes ensi vuodelle. Hauskasti
ydinvisiot sai yks kaks mitään taustoittamatta 2v aikaviiveet tuosta vaan!
Myrtyneiden ydinherraskaisten shokkia, pälyileviä ja hämmästyneitä,
suorastaan kauhistuneita kommenttejaan siitä, että mites kuitataan
vuosittainen peräti +10% ydinsähkötarpeemme jatkovuosina saa vain silkkaa
torua julkisuuden selkosilta nyt. Tulee eittämättä mieleen, enemmän kuin
paljon on maailmalta täytynyt tulla Suomen megamuutoksen takaamiseksi!
Ilmasto kun oli se viimeinen keppihevonen ydinvoiman suomalaisuuden,
työpaikkojen luonnin, halpuusilluusiuoiden ja jopa Cernin viimevuotisen
polttoainejatkuvuusennakointien kadottua totaaliseen laserjalostuksen 90%
saannin romahdettua 11%. Nyt alkaa selkeästi ydinaavikoitumisen luomat
ionosfäärituhot, Itämerikuolemat kampamaneetteineen mehiläiskatoineen
kaikkineen kasaamaan tulisia hiiliä ydinalasajon kansainväliseen
kiihdyttämiseen. Maailman uraanivarojen loppuiminen energiapositiivisenä ei
jätä myös selittelyille sijaa. Yhtä kaikki ydinalan alasajo ALKOI! Joko
mukana menee vain se, tai sitä käyttävä ihmiskunta on luonnon selkeä ja
kiistaton Einsteinin ennakoima FAKTA! |
