SOFT COMPUTING METHODS FOR PRACTICAL ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS:
TECHNIQUES AND STUDIES
=============================================================================
CALL FOR CHAPTERS
Submission Deadline: December 30, 2008
A book edited by Marcos Gestal and Dr. Daniel Rivero, University of A
Coruna, Spain
http://www.igi-global.com/requests/details.asp?id=507
INTRODUCTION
Nowadays, the complete set of Artificial Intelligence and Soft
Computing techniques is very wide and
their applications to real-world problems are countless. Students who
need to improve their knowledge
on these techniques or researchers who need to solve a real-world
problem usually find that the
bibliography is really huge. This great amount of information
available (usually dispersed) makes
it very difficult to identify the most relevant ideas or theories.
This book aims to offer the reader a complete review of Artificial
Intelligence and Soft Computing
techniques. However, this book not only focuses on theoretical
descriptions, but it also provides
a collection of real-world problems and how these techniques were used
to solve them. Therefore,
this book is a complete and useful reference for both researchers and
students who want to learn
about these techniques or expand their knowledge about their use.
The OBJECTIVES of this book consist of:
* Introducing the reader to the Soft Computing techniques so an
extensive
state-of-the-art of these techniques will be provided.
* Presenting the most recent advances in the study of these
techniques making
the latest researches available and allowing researchers to keep
themselves up-to-date.
* Illustrating some of the most recent and important applications
of these techniques.
The reader will have information concerning not only the basis of
these tools, but also their
impact and usefulness in the real world.
THE TARGET AUDIENCE
This is a reference book for students, researchers and professionals
interested in studying the
existing Soft Computing techniques from theoretical and practical
points of view. Ph.D., Master
and undergraduate students will benefit from reading and learning
about these techniques. Also,
professionals and researchers can improve their knowledge and learn
more about their applicability
to different environments.
Recommended TOPICS include, but not are limited to, the following:
1. Recent advances in Soft Computing:
* Algorithms
* Hybrid systems
* Improvement of performance
* Experimental studies
* Etc.
2. New Soft Computing techniques:
* Neural Computation
* Evolutionary Computation
* Hybrid Intelligent Systems
* Biomolecular Computing
* Artificial Creative Systems
* Adaptive Systems
* Cognitive Systems
* Emergent Behaviours
* Artificial Life
* Etc.
3. Soft Computing techniques in Real-Life applications:
* Biomedicine
* Engineering
* Machine vision
* Chemistry
* Signal analysis
* Signal processing
* Data modelling
* Image processing
* Business
* Etc.
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
Researchers are invited to submit on or before December 30, 2008, a
2-3 page manuscript proposal on
suggested topics, or other related in their area of interest, clearly
explaining the mission and
concerns of the proposed chapter. Inquiries and submissions can be
forwarded by mail to Marcos Gestal
and Daniel Rivero, editors, at softcomputing@udc.es.
Your proposal should include: your name, affiliation, selected topic
title, and brief description
of the proposed chapter (1,000-1,500 words). Authors will be notified
about the status of their
proposal by January 31, 2009. Upon acceptance of your proposal,
chapter organizational guidelines
will be sent and you will have two months to prepare your chapter
(7,000-9,000 words).Full chapters
are expected to be submitted by April 30, 2009.
The book is scheduled to be published by IGI Global (formerly Idea
Group Reference), publisher of
the "Information Science Reference" (formerly Idea Group Reference)
imprints. For additional information
